Inspect ground radio communications equipment. Including fixed, mobile,
and transportable point-to-point and ground-to-air systems, including
transmitters, receivers, transceivers, RF amplifiers, antenna systems,
recorders,
keying and signal devices, generation and display equipment, and related
AM, FM, single
sideband, independent sideband, HF, VHF, and UHF radio systems.
Determines equipment operational status, interpret inspection findings,
and adjust and
repair as needed. Check installed and repaired components for compliance
with technical
specifications, and modify equipment and maintenance procedures to
upgrade performance.
Install equipment in conformance with layout drawings. Assemble, connect, secure, and interconnect components including capacitors, resistors, transformers, and antenna assemblies. Test and adjust installed equipment to ensure proper operation. Deploy and activate mobile and transportable ground radio communications equipment in compliance with site surveys, and establish equipment systems interface.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment. Conduct regular inspections to determine operational status. Replace defective components.
Repair, overhaul, and modify equipment, using system checking procedures, test equipment, and analysis of voltage and waveform measurements, schematic diagrams, and operating characteristics of equipment. Repair equipment, including transmitters, transceivers, and receivers. Adjust, align, and calibrate equipment for maximum operating efficiency. Fabricate and connect various types of antenna systems and transmission lines. Test repaired and modified components using bench mockups and related test equipment.
Maintain inspection and maintenance records; enter meter readings and other pertinent data in equipment logs, and complete maintenance data collection forms.
